When winterizing your home, we turn off the main water valve and run all the faucets, shower, etc. to make sure the there is no water sitting in your pipes all winter long. We leave the faucets open to prevent any pressure buildup from the tiny amount of water that is still in the pipes. Having the water valve turned off and the faucets open over the winter means that there’s no chance of any surprise leaks.
Prevent Pest Issues
Another thing that many homeowners worry about when a home is vacant for long periods of time is coming home to pest issues. The best way to avoid this is to take all perishable food with you and clean out your refrigerator. We can do a thorough cleaning of your home, which ensures that there are no discarded food crumbs around the home. It’s also a good idea to seal up any non-perishable food that will be staying in the home, which can ensure that you don’t come home to food moths or mice.
